"Dear Golden Boy, I Am No Fool"

Truth, they cheered.
Radiance, they cooed.
Whispered praise to the Golden Boy,
whose light named flawless and pure,
                    shined upon all but I.
His tongue modest.
Heart considerate.
Touch warm.
All blessing my hands cannot reach,
                    perhaps nor my soul...
Lies, my eyes accused,
though such vile only spat when alone.
You are no messiah,
          though I your pariah,
                    am crowned assailant,
                              of your championship
                                        by our crowd.
Shine my way,
to that rascal of your kin,
for all the world grows darker still...
This blood you bleed,
          —though red as my eyes,
Be as pristine as my smile.
