Story: "Death" (WT)

Author Note:
School was canceled today and so I am stuck at home. Have more Braiden (Who happens to be rather paranoid) and his little-sister-like-friend-and-almost-partner, Elliot. Considering how they have an entire story of their own I'm working on (Same 'verse as Aaron and Car though), I'm not taking sprinkles. And so, I'm adding a story info thing in my posts so you know which one I'm referencing. >.>

Braiden is staring at the present in his hands as though he’s waiting for it to explode. He looks at it carefully, fingers tracing along the folds of the wrapping paper, looking for the switch that would set it off and blow his face off.

Elliot is standing in front of him, her arms crossed and looking ready to slap some sense into him. “Chill out, Bray,” she says, rolling her eyes. “It’s not a bomb.”

“So?” Braiden asks, looping a finger through the decorative ribbon. “That’s what they say and next thing you know, you’re dead on the floor. Believe me, I’ve seen it happen.” Elliot snorts but she says nothing. She would never tell him, but sometimes Braiden acted much younger than he actually was. In a few months, she’d try and force him to a mental hospital…not like it would actually work out or anything.

“Look, Braiden, you’re like my brother and I need to get back home before this weather gets any worse. Just open it, ok? You’ll like it.” She smiles, trying to coax him along faster. “Or, you know what?”

“What?” He asks, giving her a curious look.

“Why don’t I open it for you?” Without hesitation, Braiden hands the gift back to Elliot, who quickly has it unwrapped and held out in front of her proudly. He looks at it, mouth trying not to twist into a frown as he examines it.

“A box of tinfoil?”

“That’s the one thing you don’t have, so I figured that it wouldn’t kill you to make yourself one of those tin hats to keep the government from reading your brain waves.” She says, making a face and wiggling her fingers at the last part. Braiden's frown deepens slightly.

“I’m not that paranoid!” He exclaims, but deep down, he knows she’s probably right and he plans on disposing of the foil as quickly as possible. “But, um, thanks. I guess.”

“Anytime, Bray!” Elliot states, hopping up and heading for the door with a wave of her hand. “I’ll see you in a week.”

“Take care!” With that, she was gone, leaving Braiden staring at pretty paper and a box of brand new tin foil.

hee, she gave him tin foil! That's too cute. I love that he didn't want to open it and she did it for him <3 And the throwaway line In a few months, she’d try and force him to a mental hospital…not like it would actually work out or anything. was good too :)

Elle loves nothing more than pushing his buttons. ♥ Glad you liked the line; she will try. He's way too paranoid for his own good. :(

Thank you for reading!

Aww Braiden. Tin-foil hats are all the rage =P

I like these two. Elliot is an awesome name for a girl!

I know, right. He probably wears them at home when no one is around. xD

Thank you! :) I got the inspiration for her name from Scrubs. I was like, "Dang that is a good name for a girl!"

I am highly amused. I laughed quite a bit in this piece, and I love how Elliot gave him a box of tin foil. But hey, you never know when tin foil can come in handy. XD

Wonderful piece. ^^ Well done.

Why thank you. I'm glad I could make you laugh! :D And tin foil can. For instance, he could use it to keep water bottles cold...or keep his lunch warm...etc. etc. etc.

Thank you. :D

Can it keep water bottles cold? I didn't know that. o.o Well I've learned something new about tin foil today. XD
Dec. 16th, 2008 02:04 am (UTC)
Yep; well, at least it keeps frozen ones cold. Kids did it all the time back in elementary school since in like, April, it was already hitting 80. Haha. You take your water bottle, wrap it up and it helps keep them cold or whatever. XD

80... that's in Fahrenheit, right? What is that then.... like thirty degrees Celsius? I suck at degree conversion. XD But that's actually pretty cool. I'll have to keep that in mind when summer hits and it starts getting hot again.
Dec. 16th, 2008 02:45 am (UTC)
Yep, 80*F which is like, 26*C. I use this when trying to convert for all my Canadian friends since I'm a fail American who completely forgot that segment of math (Which I was taught in 5th grade. >.>)

Do try it! Here, if we're not careful, our water bottles unfreeze quickly since summers hit like 110*F (43*C) and stuff. The colder the better! <3
