Note(s): This takes place in around 1135-1136 definitely after the birth of Princess Vivianna. Cosette's is Henri's sixth wife. Gilles is Henri's former brother in law through Jeanne, who was Henri's third wife.


She was in a predicament.

Cosette loved two people, particularly two men.

She had loved Gilles longer. In the depths of her heart, she had longed for him, wished for his kisses and his touch.
But it couldn’t be denied that she loved Henri. Though she wasn’t sure how she loved him.

She hadn’t expected herself to fall in love with the monarch. After all, Henri was a dissolute. He had put two wives to death and set two more aside. His temper was legendary and yet…when he was good…

Gilles…he was boyish and charming. He had charmed her from the first. She hadn’t allowed herself to think of him much while she was wed, but then Alexandre died and she had hoped…that he could be hers.

Whatever the case, she had made her choice hadn’t she? She was married to Henri, they had Vivianna.

But it was Gilles’s face she saw when she went to bed at night.
