“Henri!”

Henri sighed in his sleep. Something or someone was pushing him. He turned over to ignore them.

“Henri!”

Wam! He sat up in the bed. Someone had slapped him. He touched his face and looked for the perpetrator and saw his ten year old sister, Amelie, standing beside the bed.

“Amelie!”

She grinned. “Claude was trying to wake you up nicely. But we all know that never works on you, so I decided to take things into my own hands.”

Henri rubbed his cheek. He swore that Amelie’s hands were made of granite.

“Why are you trying to wake me up?” Henri asked.

Amelie rolled her eyes and her opened her mouth to speak but her sister beat her to it.

“Today is the jubilee,” Claude said reaching for her brother’s hand.

“Oh really?” Henri said yawning. He so wanted to go back to bed.

“Yes indeed, my son,” a woman’s voice came from the bedroom door.

His mother, Queen Elisabeth, stood there. Though she was still in her nightclothes, she looked wide awake.

“Good morning, Maman!” Amelie said cheerily.

“Good morning, my dear,” Elisabeth said walking into her son’s bedroom. “I see you are up, Henri.”

“Yes, thanks to the brat,” Henri muttered.

“I heard that!”

“No fighting children. Today is a special day for your father. He has been king for twenty five years.”

Elisabeth looked at Henri. He grinned at her and she shook her head.

“I’ll send in your attendants to help you dress, Henri,” Elisabeth said beckoning to her daughters. “Come girls, we’ll get you dressed.”

Claude took her mother’s hand. Amelie stuck her tongue out at her brother before leaving the room.

Henri sighed and leaned back into his pillows. Today was a special day for his father. He supposed he would have to put on his princely face for the people.

Ahaha, I can't see these three not getting into an argument with the way they're going, no matter how much of a princely face Henri puts on. Interested to see where this goes :)
